Sidere duo
​
“Sidere”, from the latin “de sidere”, meaning “from the stars”, captures creative duo Chloe and Pavle’s ongoing fascination with music, and its ability to transport us along endless cycles of wonder and play.Their practice draws inspiration from romanticism, a love of the natural world, and a fusion of cross-cultural influences.

In 2015, the duo performed together to be awarded second place in the Australian Classical Youth Competition as well as the Young Virtuosi competition held by Fine Music 102.5. In 2016, Chloe and Lulu Liu (pipa, Chinese lute) commissioned Pavle to write a piece for dizi, pipa and string quartet, which premiered on 24 February 2017 at Voces Caelestium's fourth annual charity concert in St Stephen's Uniting Church. Later in 2017, Pavle wrote “Ballade for flute and piano”, inspired by Chopin and Frank Martin’s Ballade forms. The pair premiered the work on Fine Music live at Studio C broadcast in July 2017. Chloe & Pavle were both awarded BBM Youth Support Music Awards in 2017, which they used to fund a month-long trip to UK/EU in June 2018 for further music studies.

Chloe and Pavle (piano, composer) first met at the Sydney Conservatorium High School, where they sang together in the school choir and awkwardly bumped to each other in school corridors from the age of thirteen. It was another eight years before they met again as university students, and began to enjoy playing and performing together, subsequently began to collaborate together for various musical projects. They regularly enjoy playing with Ennes Mehmedbasic (oboe) performing in duo and trio form and exploring the bounds of repertoire for flute, oboe and piano.
Pavle Cajic

Pavle Cajic is a pianist, composer and arranger. He graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelors degree in Piano Performance in 2016, which he undertook on a full scholarship, under the tuition of Natalia Sheludiakova, Paul Rickard-Ford and Nikolai Evrov. Having composed for his own enjoyment from a young age, in recent years he has studied composition with Richard Gill, Tristan Coelho and Trevor Pearce. As a pianist, he has performed both solo and in collaboration with other musicians at recitals and music festivals in Australia, New Zealand, and Italy.
He has premiered his compositions in Australia, either as performer or as conductor, most frequently with the Voces Caelestium charity orchestra, which he co-founded with conductor Taesoo Kim in 2014. He has also premiered a composition on radio with the support of Fine Music 102.5 FM. Pavle enjoys collaborating with other musicians either as composer or performer, and is an enthusiastic teacher. His other interests include math, physics, and studying the Alexander Technique. He also joins Chloe as an assisting teacher trainee at the Sydney Alexander Technique School’s Tuesday evening Musician’s Class.
